About The show

Talkin' Birds is a live and interactive radio show about wild birds and the beauty of nature—attracting birds to your backyard, feeding them, and learning more about them. We feature expert guests, news stories and updates from the world of birds and conservation, and contests for prizes like bird feeders and other bird-related items each week.

Our mission is to encourage appreciation of our natural world and to promote the preservation and protection of our environment.

Talkin' Birds first hit the airwaves in 2006, broadcasting from WATD in Marshfield, Massachusetts. As of 2022, the show airs on 19 public and commercial radio stations around New England, New York, and Maryland.

Talkin' Birds celebrated its milestone 500th show in November 2014 with a live broadcast from the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC. Many other places and organizations have hosted remote broadcasts, such as the Audubon Society of Rhode Island during Raptor Weekend in Rhode Island in September 2018 and 2019 (shows #693 and #744), the National Park Service at Grand Canyon National Park in 2016 (show #591), and show #550 in November 2015 was broadcast from Estero Llano Grande State Park in South Texas. We love broadcasting live from bird festivals and birdy places! Drop us a line if you have a suggestion for a place for us to broadcast from, or if you would like to collaborate with us for a live broadcast. And listen in and be part of the show by calling in to our Mystery Bird Competition and win some fabulous prizes!
